Back in January we were confronted with the opportunity to move off campus. We ended up finding a sitter for the kids, and Rodney and I drove to Walnut Cove to meet with the homeowner of the house that was for rent. We turned onto the road and could see mountains as far as the eyes can see...oh we were in love already!
As we started driving down the road we realized that it was a dead end road, that dead ended right into the landlords 100 acre farm. Wow, could this be any more than perfect. I was trying not to get my hopes up, but I was super excited! We walked into the house, and it was hardwood floors through out, nicely painted walls, very spacious kitchen, with brand new appliances. There was even a laundry room! There was one bedroom that had brand new carpet...perfect bedroom for the kids!
After viewing the house, we went for a walk to the farm, where the landlord basically interviewed us. Upon leaving he agreed to our rental offer. Are you serious! He accepted $200 less a month than his original asking price. God was in this, there was not a shadow of doubt about it.
We continued to pray and seek guidance on whether this was a right fit for our family. We met with our financial advisor to crunch numbers to make sure it would work. After we mulled everything over what seemed like a bazillion times...we arrived at our decision. We were MOVING!
We called our landlord up, and told him that we accept. We threw the kids in the rover, and took them to see the house for the first time. They were thrilled and super excited.
Then started the grooling process of packing again! No fun! But it is such a blessing to move to a house that is bigger, than into one that is smaller. I have been on both sides of the spectrum and know what it is like to move into a bigger house, and a smaller house.
In the next few days we were packed up and ready to move. Although we had nothing to fill this house with. We enjoyed buying new living room furniture, kid's new beds, an actual BED for us, dining room table...etc.
And the greatest perk of all came 2 days after Valentine's Day.....a brand new puppy!
Our Home was Complete!!
